The proto-performative series of drawings “Paisagem” (landscapes), is driven through a conscious production process of candle-wicks. These elements emerge as the combustion system of this piece, and its production was organized in a succession of mechanical steps: rolling the cotton string around 25 to 30 times – until a significant number of units was obtained – through 4 fingers of one hand, and tie a knot; remove the knot, unroll the string, dip through the emulsion and hang it to dry; roll again and tying a knot. However, the repetition of a gesture or action promotes a higher concentration in the expectation to operate a deviation to the arid technique.
This was achieved in this collection of drawings when, with the gesture derived from the removal of the string from the emulsion to hang it to dry, a slight touch and slide happened on the floor. Following this idea, some purposed registrations were made, semi-controlled, drawing possible landscapes from this mountain idea. To these records, which are born within another procedure in my scope of work, I call simultaneous processes.
